Born 1949, New Zealand
Peter Boggs, who lives in the Blue Mountains, reveals in his works a romantic nostalgia for the tranquil buildings and lanes of pastoral Europe. In an artistic career spanning more than 30 years, Boggs has developed an instinctive colour sense. His limited palette and skill as a tonalist has created intimate works that soften the severity of architecture with the diffusion of light.
Boggs is a polished artist with a strong strain of the purist about him. His oil paintings have a sense of order and explore how light and shade affect objects in the landscape. There is stillness in his deserted environments however they also evoke a sense of anticipation as the eye steps out of the shade into the sunlight
His works are included in numerous Private and Corporate Collections in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, USA, Europe and the United Kingdom.
