Playing with perspective through the use of opaque and thin films of paint, Kolbusz has a personal language. His paintings have a warped, deconstructed, un-rooted, organic and accidental feel, with vibrant slabs of colour and unexpected miscellany. They are exciting whilst also being confusing and decentralising. These dynamic works have segments of euphoric frenzy, whilst also flaunting large areas of space, achieved by the right combinations of bright and muted colour and light. They are a synthesis of bold statements and fragile nuances. Waldemar Kolbusz is a much-loved and highly sought-after artist, with a huge local following and representation by several respected Australian galleries. In the 16 years that Kolbusz has worked as a full time artist, he has amassed an impressive list of exhibitions in Australia, Hong Kong, New York and Singapore, and is included in some important collections nationally and internationally.
