Purchased by the current owner from Sotheby’s Fine Art Auction April 1998.
During his extended visits to Paris in the late 1980s, Whiteley produced his famous Regard de Côte series. The works from this era served as a nostalgic and creative homage to the Parisian art district, the École de Paris, and his ultimate idol, Pablo Picasso.

This specific piece highlights his deep fascination with Picasso’s legacy, placing one of the master’s renowned sculptures directly into the iconic urban landscape of the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district on the Left Bank.

This piece was part of his exhibition Paris & ‘Regard de Côté’ which was exhibited in Sydney in 1990 at the Australian Galleries and the Art Gallery of New South Wales in 1990 .
